Hi, Iβm Miss Phonics! I make videos and resources to help children learn phonics in a a fun and engaging way! Welcome to my channel! π
This video focuses on oral blending of simple CVC words that use the following sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n
I say the sounds slowly, 'c-a-t', and your child is encouraged to blend the sounds together and say the whole word, 'cat'.
β¨ Why oral blending?
β’ Oral blending is an important literacy skill where children combine separate, spoken sounds, phonemes, to form a whole word. It is crucial as it helps children to develop phonemic awareness, to decode unknown words, and builds fluency and confidence in reading.
β’ There are no written words on screen, so children can focus purely on listening to sounds and blending them together β an essential early phonics skill.
πΆ This video is ideal for:
β’ Children who are getting ready to start formal phonics teaching at school
β’ Children developing early phonics and reading skills
β’ Learners who need extra support with listening and blending
β’ Children getting ready to start formal phonics instruction
π― Skills your child will practise:
β’ Listening carefully to individual sounds
β’ Blending sounds to make words
β’ Building confidence with early phonics
β’ Developing early reading and language skills
