At the age of 16, Swiss ski jumper Simon Ammann debuted at Nagano 1998. Four years later, he won gold in the individual large hill and individual normal hill events at Salt Lake City 2002. On a run, he was favored to win gold at Turin 2006, but a crash during his second jump at the normal hill event ended his hopes of winning an Olympic medal. Ammann came back four years later at Vancouver 2010 and once again claimed gold in the individual large hill and individual normal hill events.
