Eugenio Monti's Incredible Act of Sportsmanship ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น | Heartwarming Moments

Great Britain's Tony Nash and Robin Nash faced every bobsledder's worst nightmare in the middle of competition at Innsbruck 1964, a fault on their sled.

A broken bolt looked all but certain to nix their Olympic dreams until their biggest rival stepped forward. Italy's Eugenio Monti was an 8x World Champion going into the games and despite runnin behind the British duo, he took a bolt off his old sled to allow them to stay in the competition.

Dixon and Nash took Gold while Monti took bronze with teammate Sergio Siorpaes. Monti would eventually win two gold medals at Grenoble 1968, but his incredible act of sportsmanship at Innsbruck saw him become the first athlete to ever be awarded the Pierre de Coubertin World Trophy by the International Fairplay Committee.
